And that’s a wrap…

Hello soccers,

Final newsletter from me – I’m off to pastures new (the inside of exam halls) and have handed over the fame, responsibility and, sadly, the chequebook.  We have:

  • AGM Results
  • Final Darkroom/Printing tutorials
  • Slideshow of the year

Annual General Meeting

This year’s AGM seemed to go down well – plenty of free alcohol and pizza and some good laughs all round.  We also voted in the new committee for next year, and I’m pleased to announce that my successor as pres will be Jonathon Hamilton!  Commiserations to Jason who lost out in the running for Pres, I’m sure you’d have done a good job.  Matt Crisp will be taking over as Secretary and Thom Riley as Treasurer.  A host of other committee positions were also decided and the new committee will be announcing these shortly.

We also awarded the first Remy Pascal Award for Photosoc Excellence which also went to Jonathon Hamilton – just reward for his efforts this year.  This one got named after Remy in recognition not only of his cult status in the society, but also because he’s stuck with Photosoc through thick and thin, often taking on much of the load when everyone else was shirking theirs.  It’s fair to say that we wouldn’t have been able to progress to our current heights without the base that he established.

If you didn’t manage to attend the AGM but still want to have a say in how Photosoc is run next year then please get in touch – there’s plenty of work to go around.

Final Tutorials of the year

  • Darkroom – Thursday, 8:30pm, Pleasance with Lauren
  • Printing – Thursday, 8:30pm Pleasance with Adam

If you can’t get on one of these then I’m afraid you’ll have to wait until September to start printing/developing.  If you do want to join in, then send the individuals an email for further details.

Slideshow of the year

Slideshow!  Slideshow!  Slideshow!  Do love a good slideshow.  A collection of images showing off Photosoc’s events and socials throughout the year, as well as some of the competition winning shots, can be found here.  If you’ve got anything to add, then just send us an email and we’ll stick it up.  It’s been emotional!

Right, that’s it for this year.  Thank you very much for your support, good luck with your exams, remember to sign up in Fresher’s Week next year for special bonus rates and if you happen to see a committee member standing at the bar in Potterrow, looking a little lost and forlorn then please buy them a drink – they’ve deserved it.

Cheers,
Adam
