Hey PhotoSoccers,

Unfortunately I was heading North as many of you headed south over the weekend, and as such missed the Galloway trip. But from what’s gone up on the flickr group so far it would appear that some of you got some really great shots! I hope you all enjoyed it! This week we have a very special guest coming to talk to us on Friday, and I urge you ALL to make sure you attend!

He will be going over how to get started, techniques and also a tour of Scotland from the sky using his own pictures! Please make sure you come along as it is not to be missed! Afterwards you are also invited to come along with us (and James) to The Southsider for a few drinks and chat!

2. Competition

With the competition deadline looming I hope everyone is finalising their entry and getting read to print!

The theme of this years competition is “Moods,” which is intended to be very open to interpretation. This means there are opportunities in all disciplines of photography to get involved capturing the moods of everything from landscapes to people!

To enter you will need to bring a print of your entry along to the judging meeting on Friday 11th of November. We allow up to two entries per member, and they must be printed on either A4 or A3. If you wish to use alternative aspect ratios then just print them on A4/A3 and leave white space. The way it will work is that the prints will be laid out on tables and assigned numbers, you will then vote for your favourite two photos anonymously. There will be prizes for first, second and third place. We will then use the best of the photos in our semester one exhibition.

If your entry is ready to go, and you wish to print it, please email the PhotoSoc gmail with the subject “Printing Entry,” and Robin will sort out arrangements to get it printed

3. Darkroom/Lightroom

To book a Darkroom tutorial please send a NEW email to photosoc.ed@gmail.com with the subject “Darkroom” and say which day you would prefer. They are available every Monday and Tuesday at 6pm in the Pleasance darkroom. Please do not just reply to this newsletter or your request will be lost to the depths of the interwebz.

For lightroom tutorials it is the same thing, but with the subject “Lightroom.” These are available on Mondays at 6pm and Tuesdays at 6pm.

4. POTW

This weeks picture of the week was taken over the weekend in Galloway and is an excellent picture of people taking pictures! Well done Thomas! (Noobographer on Flickr)
