1. Competition Details
Friday 11th November, 7pm Highland Room, Pleasance
This weeks meeting will be the judging of this semesters competition which has the theme, “Moods.” We would like to encourage all of you to enter, but even if you choose not to enter, it would be great if you could still come along to place votes on your favourites!
The format will be as follows; on arrival if you are entering you will hand up to TWO prints to one of the committee, with your name on the back of both. (Lightly in pencil to avoid damage or on a sticky label) Then once all the entries are collected we will lay them out on tables with a number next to them. Everyone in the room will then be able to vote for the two they think best fit the theme, by going to Robin and stating the two numbers of the photos they wish to vote for. Then once all the votes are counted there will be prizes awarded for first, second and third place!
**PRINTING DETAILS**
We have had a lot of requests for printing competition entries and as such have arranged to have three drop-in printing sessions this week to allow you all to come down to the Pleasance and print your entries.
These will run as follows:
Wednesday (tonight): 6-8 with Robin
Thursday: 6-7 with Thom
Friday (Last minute printing!!): 6-7 with Thom/Alex/Robin
The price of prints will include paper and ink and will be:
A4: £2
A3: £4
If you are not sure where the Darkroom/Lightroom is at the Pleasance, just ask at the bar for directions.
2. Zoo Trip
On Saturday the 26th of November our resident wildlife expert, Mark, is planning a trip to Edinburgh Zoo in conjunction with the Zoology Society. As we expect many of you would like to attend this trip we are going to start sign ups now, because if we get enough interest we may be able to sort some kind of discount on the entry cost! So if you are interested head to this doodle page to sign up;

3. Darkroom/Lightroom
The darkroom is now in full swing and with the installation of a second enlarger its set to get better. We have now taken about 40 of your through the beginners workshop and as such feel now might be the time to offer some more advanced tuition. So from now on the Monday session with Joe will be an “Advanced Darkroom Workshop,” open to all of you who have already completed the beginners one! This will be free to those of you who have paid your darkroom fees so is well worth signing up for. So now when signing up for Darkroom tutorials please put either “Darkroom Beginner” or “Darkroom Advanced” in the subject line. The times are as follows;
Advanced Workshop with Joe: Monday 6pm-8pm
Beginners Tutorial with Alex: Tuesday 6pm-8pm
The lightroom is also looking good with the monitor calibratin now under control and plenty of ink and paper to see us into the new year! Tutorials for this remain the same, but we may offer advanced classes in the not so distant future!
Tutorial with Jason: Monday 6pm-8pm
Tutorial with Crispy: Tuesday 6pm-8pm
4. Job Opportunities
PR Shots
Basically, I’m looking for a few portrait photos of myself. I’m the current student conductor of Edinburgh University Music Society and require a couple of “artistic-looking” pics for the society website and programme for our upcoming concert. Hopefully one of PhotoSoc can help me out with some edited shots? Remuneration will be in adult beverage if appropriate.
Thanks for help and any advice,
Michael

5. POTW
This weeks POTW comes from Isobel (Flickr name: roxy_i53) This shot is a really interesting one for me because I can only guess from the time it was uploaded that they are waiting for fireworks. But if I did not know that it would be very hard to guess exactly what this group of people were up to! Really nice shot Isobel!

That’s all for this week, see you all on Friday!
