Hello PhotoSoccers,
With the huge success of the “Moods” competition at last Fridays meeting we’ve had a busy start to this week selecting the photos for the exhibition, getting them mounted and making the final arrangements for the launch on Saturday night. The quality of the entries this year was suburb so congratulations to all those who entered. The winner was Kirsty Bain with her wonderful self portrait, which she’ll be pleased to hear has been turned it into a poster and will be posted all over uni so look out for them over the next couple of days.

3. Friday’s Meeting – Live Film Demo
7pm, Highland Room Pleasance
This weeks meeting will be a live film developing demo, featuring Joe and Alex, our darkroom tutors. They are being let out of the dark for one night only to show you all how to develop film. This is ideal for those of you who are still waiting to have a darkroom tutorial, or would like a refresher.
No need to sign up for this one, just come along!
4. Exhibition Launch
Saturday 19th December, 8pm, Committee Room – Teviot
This Saturday instead of a trip we will be having our exhibition launch night. Come down to see the best of the competition entries on the walls of the Committee Room in Teviot. This will be more of a social evening, so come down, buy yourself a drink and have a chat. We will be providing free nachos for those of you who require an additional incentive to come along!
We will also be giving out the prizes to the winners!
5. Zoo Trip Reminder
On Saturday the 26th of November our resident wildlife expert, Mark, is planning a trip to Edinburgh Zoo in conjunction with the Zoology Society. As we expect many of you would like to attend this trip we have started sign ups early, because if we can get enough interest we may be able to sort some kind of discount on the entry cost! So if you are interested head to this doodle page to sign up;

Edinburgh University History Society Winter Ball
Hey,
I’m writing to you on behalf of Edinburgh University History Society to inquire if any members of your society would be interested in being the official photographer for this years History Society Winter Ball.
The ball is taking place on 30th November at the Jam House. We are looking for a photographer to take photos of the night including the arrival and champagne reception to the ceilidh and disco that is being held later in the evening.
The society will of course be willing to be pay for the time time of the photographer and is willing to discuss prices if any of your members register an interest.
I look forwards to hearing from you,
Deborah Britland
Free Gear from Lighting Rumours
A manufacturer from Malaysia just sent me one of their latest flashgun accessories to write a review about. It’s called the GamiLight Event Pro and is a kind of folding bounce card for on-camera flash photography. I don’t shoot a lot of events, but maybe somebody else would like to try it out? As a reward, you’ll get to keep it afterwards! All you have to do is write a few words about your experience with it and send me a couple of test shots for publication on the lightingrumours.com web site.
Events Photography
In January this year, we will be having our annual Burns Supper in Edinburgh, on the 20th, 21st, 27th or 28th (date TBC shortly). I think it would be lovely to have a photographer there, capturing our guests entrance, dining experience, toasts and ceilidh. We would wish to have all copies on a disc rather than printed.
Therefore may I ask if you would be able to provide such a service for us, and any details if so?
Kind regards,
Sarah Michie

This week we have a whole collection of pictures of the week which can be seen at Saturdays exhibition… ;)
But lets still have one from the Flickr group as per tradition, and this week it is our man in charge of the money, James Killick (J Killick on flickr).
Really nice focus and composition on this one, and great detail in the webs between the leaves. Well done James!
That’s all for this week folks!
See you all on Friday or Saturday or preferably BOTH! :D
