  1. Fridays Bar Crawl

This year the bar crawl will be kicking off in The Southsider at 8pm. We will have a spread of free food, so arrive early to avoid disappointment (Crispy and Robin have quite the appetite!) We shall then be following a rough route round Malones, Oz Bar, Finnegans Wake then for those who like to dance, Liquid Rooms! We are once again encouraging you to bring along disposable cameras, but this time we shall be giving you a list of iconic pictures to attempt to reproduce! Should be a lot of fun, so make sure you come along!

  1. Competition

The competition for semester 2 this year is going to be a little bit different to in the past. This year has seen one of our most active memberships in a long time, and as such we want to celebrate all your talents across many themes. As such the title of this years exhibition will be “The Best of PhotoSoc.” It will run as follows. Starting… Now, you can upload 3 pictures to our new flickr page. They must be your BEST 3 pictures, and can be taken anytime, but more recent would be nice! Then up until the closing date (TBC) you will be welcome to replace your 3 pictures as much as you like, but only your MOST RECENT 3 uploads will be considered. We will then create a short list of around 30 photographs, and arrange to have them printed. You will then all be invited along to vote for in the usual way, from which prizes will be awarded and an exhibition arranged! We think this is the best way to ensure an exhibition which will show off everyone ones talent in all the fields of photography.

Upload your pictures here now: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1865888@N20/

  1. Job Opportunities

Andrew is looking for an experienced photographer to cover an evening event on George Street next month.

Hi PhotoSoc!
If any of you have lived in self catered flats in your first year here you might be aware that every year the RAs book out a night club for an exclusive flat residents party.
Each year we look to expand the event and this year one of the additions we want to make is to have a photographer present for a couple of hours.
The date of the Flats Party is the 16th of February and the venue will be one of the George Street clubs.
Do you have anyone who might be interested in working for us for a couple of hours that night? We would of course be expecting high quality photography that we could not provide ourselves.
If you have any interested members please could you let me know how much it would cost to hire them for the night?
Thanks,
Andrew Wakely

The EU Fencing Club is looking for a photographer to cover an exhibition fencing match in March. If you have experience of indoor sports photography, and want to try something different and unusual, this might be for you!

Hi there,
I’m an alumni member of Edinburgh University fencing club – in the first weekend of March we’ll be having an exhibition match between current and alumni members many of whom have fenced at international level. We’d like someone professional to take a few photographs, just for clubuse (website, facebook etc) – please let me know if any of your members would be interested in helping.
Regards,
John Small
