Editing
For the editing stage we have a capable computer hooked up to two Spyder calibrated 24″ Samsung LED monitors. This gives you the ultimate power when using the installed Adobe Lightroom 3 to really get the best from your photographs. Also installed are GIMP and Hugin. We intend to continually add to the software selection available as demand for it increases.
Printing
The society owns and maintains a Canon iPF5000 large format pigment ink printer capable of professional standard prints on a variety of media up to A2 width. With the roll-paper adapter, the printer is also capable of outputting in panoramic format.
Our ‘house papers’ are:
- Ilford Galiere Smooth Perl – a cheap but high-quality semi-gloss paper that gives contrasty results
- Ilford Gold Fibre Silk – a smooth, heavyweight paper capable of excellent B&W results with very strong contrast
- Hahnemühle Smooth Photorag 308gsm – a slightly textured heavyweight paper
Members are allowed to print on other media, including other photo papers, silk, canvas, vinyl and plain paper as long as permission is sought from the society beforehand. If we like what we see, we may add it to our list of house papers!
Scanning
If you shoot film, and would like to scan the negatives we have a Nikon Coolscan V which is perfect for the job. It can automatically scan film in strips of six to an exceptionally high quality!
