Edinburgh University Photosoc and Sony Proudly Present – Alonso Diaz (fully booked)
A hands-on workshop with Spanish professional technical landscape photographer Alonso Diaz
Date: Saturday, 06 March 2010
Time: 10:00 – 19:00
Edinburgh University Photosoc & Sony proudly present a hands-on workshop with Alonso Diaz.
Aided by his assistant Jorge, Alonso will lead a workshop around several Edinburgh locations, demonstrating to attendees his range of photographic techniques. As he specialises in everything from portable lighting to tripod-based landscape work, this should make for an eye-opening experience! Take a look at his website at http://www.alonsodr.com/ to see for yourself the variety of his work.
We will meet at 10am in a central Edinburgh location. From there we will take a private coach to our first location, the countryside and beach at Kinghorn. We will work with Alonso and Jorge photographing the sea and countryside until mid-afternoon, when we will be driven to South Queensferry. Here we will eat lunch at one of the waterfront pubs, before Alonso gives us a talk on some of the techniques he uses for his photography. These can immediately be put into practise, as we will then head to the beaches and quayside at South Queensferry to photograph the famous bridges as the sun goes down. As night falls, we will be driven to our final location, Calton Hill in Edinburgh. Alonso and Jorge will once more circulate amongst the participants, giving advice as to landscape technique. I anticipate our arrival at Calton Hill around 7pm, and participants will be free to depart in their own time from this final location.
There will be a cost of £13 to take part in the workshop to cover the cost of hiring a coach for the day and a private room in South Queensferry. In addition, it is anticipated that the majority of the participants will eat lunch at one of the pubs in South Queensferry, which will incur a further cost of £7-12 depending on the dish chosen – to be paid to the restaurant on the day. Payment for the workshop must be made in advance, and can be in the form of cheque posted to my home address or cash to be handed in at any of the society’s meetings or any of the other Sony events in 2010. To avoid giving out my address in public, please request it when you RSVP. Please note that this workshop will be going ahead come rain or shine (or snow!) and that refunds will only be given should another photographer take your place.
This event will be strictly limited to 30 participants. R.S.V.P. by e-mail to photosoc.ed@googlemail.com.
